Legacy Giving

Charitable giving is an important part of our country’s core values. Over the century, people have invested in causes and organizations. The good news is you don’t have to be Rockefeller or Bill Gates to start a meaningful philanthropic legacy. In addition to supporting Colorado Health Network through cash donations, we ask that you consider making a planned gift. It can be as easy as a gift in your will.

Whether it is naming Colorado Health Network in your will or trust for a modest amount, stocks/insurance or a gift of a house or car, there is an easy option that is right for you.

If you choose to leave a gift for the future of those living with and impacted by HIV, we welcome the chance to say thank you. Plus, you can set an example and inspire others to consider this type of gift to CHN. With a gift that costs you nothing now, you can forever be remembered as someone who believes in the power of community.

Types of Bequests

There are a number of ways you can make a bequest to Colorado Health Network.

Specific Bequest. A specific bequest involves making a gift of a specific asset such as real estate, a car, other property or a gift for a specific dollar amount. For example, you may wish to leave your home or $10,000 to Colorado Health Network.

Percentage Bequest. Another kind of specific bequest involves leaving a specific percentage of your overall estate to charity. For example, you may wish to leave 10% of your estate to Colorado Health Network.

Residual Bequest. A residual bequest is made from the balance of an estate after the will or trust has given away each of the specific bequests. A common residual bequest involves leaving a percentage of the residue of the estate to charity. For example, you may wish to leave 30% of the residue of your estate to Colorado Health Network.

Contingent Bequest. A contingent bequest is made to charity only if the purpose of the primary bequest cannot be met. For example, you could leave specific property, such as a vacation home, to a relative, but the bequest language could provide that if the relative is not alive at the time of your death, the vacation home will go to Colorado Health Network.

Before making your estate plans, we recommend consulting with a qualified estate planner, financial planner and/or attorney.
