Free Sharps Disposal

Fill It Forward is a Colorado Health Network program dedicated to safe, accessible sharps disposal — free of charge and free of judgment. By partnering with local pharmacies, businesses, and community members, we’re working to reduce harm, protect public health, and keep our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

What Is Fill It Forward?

Improper disposal of syringes and other sharps poses real risks: accidental injuries, contamination, and the potential spread of infectious diseases. Fill It Forward addresses this by providing sharps containers to pharmacies and local businesses at no cost, ensuring used syringes, pen needles, lancets, GLP-1 injection devices, acupuncture needles, and diabetic supplies are collected and disposed of safely.

Why Safe Disposal Matters

When sharps are disposed of improperly in household trash, recycling bins, or public spaces, they put sanitation workers, first responders, families, and community members at risk. Safe disposal:

  • Prevents needlestick injuries
  • Reduces the risk of bloodborne disease transmission
  • Supports the health of the whole community

Fill It Forward is built on the belief that a safer community starts with accessible resources — and that everyone deserves to access those resources with dignity.
